Hither & Yon’s cellar door took over a space originally occupied by Willunga’s 1860s butchery. Vestiges of the original décor remain (slate flooring, limestone walls), but it now plays happy home to both cellar and chic café de Rose Kitchen. Bond of brothers

Hither & Yon’s is a story of people and soil — of sustainable stewardship of the land and an unyielding connection to community. The brainchild of Leask brothers Richard and Malcolm, who’ve called the McLaren Vale home since their parents bought a little plot in the region back in 1980, Hither & Yon started out as a ‘bottle project’ and found its feet as the duo steadily united a thoughtfully selected slate of vineyards under the wanderlust spirit of their brand.

Stretched across the cooler piece of the already cool McLaren, Hither & Yon’s vineyards thrive under the philosophy of regenerative agriculture, the viticultural manifestation of Richard and Malcolm’s belief that strife and struggle beget beauty and character. Self-proclaimed ‘alternative futurists’, the brothers weave sustainability into every fibre of their venture, planting native trees and going to great lengths to encourage healthy habitats for Aussie creatures, all in a testament to their motto: by virtue, we grow.
