Step back in time to the dawn of wine as you explore one of the oldest wine-producing regions in the world. Included in the pack are three benchmark Lebanese wines; a white, rose and red, all from quality independent producers.
What's in the case?
Lebanon has been producing wine since as early as 7000 BC. It has a rich and storied heritage with biblical roots, and is the oldest of winemaking regions and home to some of the most exciting wines coming out of the middle east. The country's dry, sunny climate and landscape make it ideal for grape growing.
Expand your horizons and explore some of the best wines the country has to offer — including a white blend from Lebanon's oldest winery featuring unique indigenous varietals, a top-rated rosé from high-altitude vineyards, and a supple, stunning red blend from the foothills of Mount Lebanon.
Domaine des Tourelles White 2019Bekaa Valley, Lebanon
Tucked away in Lebanon’s famous Bekaa Valley, Domaine des Tourelles cultivates some of the Northern Hemisphere's highest-altitude vineyards, growing at 1,000 metres in the world's oldest wine-producing region. Here, hand-harvested fruit enters the state-of-the-art winery (classified among the finest boutique wineries in the Middle East), where it’s moulded into jewels like this blend of Viognier, Chardonnay, Obeidi, and Muscat of Alexandria — a crisp, dry, textural wonder that will enchant the full spectrum of white wine lovers.
Expect to findAn exotic, focused wine with a perfume of white peach and jasmine, luscious texture, lively minerality, and layers of apple, citrus, and spice on the palate
EnjoyWith roast chicken, roast vegetables, or white fish like barramundi
Ixsir Grande Reserve Rosé 2019Bezbina, Lebanon
Ixsir cultivates 120 hectares of vineyards that rise to 1,800 metres and stretch from Batroun (one of the world’s oldest cities) to Jezzine, just south of Beirut. Founded in 2008, Ixsir melds ancient Lebanese traditions with modern sensibilities in the winery, using sustainable viticulture to craft wines that give voice to the country's terroir. The Grande Reserve Rosé marries Mourvèdre, Cinsault, and Syrah from plots in Halwa, Jezzine, and Kfifane into a model of sophisticated elegance.
Expect to findA sophisticated wine with hints of tart white peach, nutty almond, and strawberries-and-cream. For lovers of quality French rosé and well-structured wines that are as comfortable paired with food as they are on their own
EnjoyAs an apéritif — or with charcuterie, salmon, or vegetarian curries
Château Oumsiyat Jaspe Red 2014Mtein, Lebanon
One of the oldest villages in Lebanon, Mtein plays home to Château Oumsiyat, built by fourth-generation winemaker Joseph Bou Sleiman. From their 78 hectares of high-altitude Bekaa Valley vineyards, Château Oumsiyat grows pure and balanced grapes that range from indigenous varieties like Obeidi to classic nobility like Syrah. Back in the winery, the team crafts eminently drinkable wines like the Jaspe — a seductive blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Carignan, and Cinsault.
